Custom Memory Quilts
Would you like for me to make a completely custom memory quilt for you? Do you have t-shirts, jeans, or button up shirts from a loved one? I can take clothing items and make them into a keepsake to last for many years to come.
T-SHIRT QUILTS
Cotton t-shirts with printed logos, not athletic shirts with “sticky” logos, make great memory quilts.
Minimum of 16 t-shirts arranged in a 4x4 grid. Can have more shirts to arrange in a grid: 4x5, 5x5, 5x6, 6x6, 6x7, 7x7, or 7x8.
Each T-shirt will be cut to approximately 14 inches square. All t-shirts will be sewn to the shirt next to it. There will be no sashing fabric (fabric between the t-shirts). You need to cut apart the logo side of the T-shirt from the non-logo side of the T-shirt. Please cut apart at the side seams and across the top of the shoulder piece of each T-shirt. This saves on shipping costs for you.
Cost is minimum $300 for the first 16 t-shirts. Additional t-shirts are $12 each.
Please provide cotton fabric or minky fabric for the backing. Contact me with number of shirts so I can calculate size of backing fabric needed. Cost of $300+ is for my time putting together your quilt. This cost includes cutting t-shirts, ironing interfacing, sewing quilt top, batting, quilting on my computerized longarm machine, and binding quilt.
Limitations: no sweatshirts, no embroidered logos or letters from letter jackets, no zippers, and no pockets.
DENIM QUILTS
Denim quilts can be cut into squares or triangles, or rectangles.
Cost is $30 per pair of jeans, minimum of 10 pairs of jeans. Additional pairs of jeans are $18 each.
Please provide cotton fabric or minky fabric for the backing. Contact me with number of jeans so I can calculate size of backing fabric needed. Cost of $300+ is for my time putting together your quilt. This cost includes cutting jeans, sewing quilt top, batting, quilting on my computerized longarm machine, and binding quilt.
Limitations: no pockets, no side seams, no patches or labels, no zippers or belt loops.
BUTTON UP SHIRTS OR POLO SHIRTS
Button up shirts and/or polo shirt quilts make excellent memory quilts.
Minimum of 4 shirts. Please clip off all buttons if you want to keep them as I will not clip them. Shirts need to be already cut apart into individual pieces before sending to me. This means cutting apart the arm pieces and side seams and cutting off the collars. I will starch and iron all the shirt pieces and cut them into 5 inch squares. Then I will sew them into a patchwork quilt. Please provide cotton fabric or minky for the back of the quilt. Contact me to see how much you will need based on the quilt size. Prices start at $250 and go up depending on the number of shirts and how big you want the quilt to be. Price includes starching pieces and cutting squares, piecing quilt top, quilting on my computerized longarm quilting machine, and binding.
Limitations: pockets and pocket flaps will not be included. Large embroidered logos or patches will not work.
